Walterdale Bridge — 5-Panel Black & White Metal Polyptych

This five-panel polyptych captures Edmonton's iconic Walterdale Bridge on an extremely cold winter night, shot at around -30°C. Mounted on a gently curved wall, the panels wrap outward like a window looking out onto the scene — drawing the viewer in rather than presenting a flat image. The illuminated arch glows white against the black sky, its cables fanning out in sharp geometric lines, while the downtown skyline rises in the background and a low bank of ice fog — formed by the extreme cold over the North Saskatchewan River — drifts across the water below. Stripped of colour, the image leans into contrast and light — the metal finish giving the bridge's steel structure exceptional depth, sharpness, and a reflective, almost liquid quality. Designed as an immersive, wide installation spanning over 5 feet, the curved presentation gives the piece a sense of depth and place that anchors the space.
